A big step towards the green revolution for the Great Island. Madagascar is the first country to sign the "Solemn Declaration for Energy Initiative for Africa." This is the outcome of a meeting between Prime Minister of Madagascar, Jean Ravelonarivo, President of the Pan African Parliament, Roger Nkodo Dang, and Jean Louis Borbo, President of the Energy Foundation for Africa and former French Minister of Ecology , on 3 September afternoon in Paris, France.
Through the project Energies for Africa, the Foundation aims to mobilize the heads of state, ministers and African political figures around a "Marshall" plan for the electrification of the African continent by renewable energies. Indeed, 60% of the African population has no access to electricity. A lack of energy, causing several hours of load shedding, is a common problem of big cities in sub-Saharan Africa.
